Attorney Gray has exclusively handled family law cases throughout her career. During law school Attorney Gray was employed by a Chicago legal aid services provider where she handled family law matters for indigent clients. Upon graduating from The John Marshall Law School, Attorney Gray worked for a large family law firm in Chicago. Attorney Gray clerked for Gitlin & Gitlin during law school, and joined the firm as an attorney in 1998. Attorney Gray joined The Gitlin Law Firm, P.C., in 2002. Attorney Gray is a native of Chicago, Illinois. PublicationsAttorney Gray successfully defended a 2002 First District appeal in IRMO Lindsey-Robinson. Attorney Gray was a contributing author to Gitlin on Divorce Reports from 1994 to 2001. Her published writings include two chapters for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education titled, "Negotiating Child Custody Disputes" (2000) and "Negotiating Child Custody Disputes" (1998, which she co-authored), as well as the 2006 chapter (which she co-authored) which addressed the Supreme Court Rules regarding custody litigation. She also wrote an article which appeared as the Article of the Month in Illinois Family Law Report titled, "Useful Tips for Negotiating a Child Custody Dispute." Attorney Gray is also a contributing author to the Illinois State Bar Association Family Law Section newsletter, having authored an article titled, "Spoliation of Evidence and Its Impact on Family Law" for the April 2006 edition and an article titled, "Equitable Principles and Their Application to Domestic Relations Cases" for the October 2004 edition. Bar Memberships and Positions HeldPaulette Gray is a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and currently serves on the Illinois Chapter's Board of Managers. She is a member of the American Bar Association (including the Family Law Section), the Illinois Appellate Lawyers Association, the Illinois State Bar Association (including the Family Law Section), and the McHenry County Bar Association (including the Family Law Section). To become a member of the Illinois Appellate Lawyer's Association, a lawyer must have substantial experience in a number of appeals. Attorney Gray has been a member of the Illinois State Bar Association Family Law Section Council since 2000, and has served on several subcommittees throughout her tenure as a member of the council. Attorney Gray currently serves as Chair of the Family Law Section Council for the 2008-09 membership year, and previously served as the Vice-Chair (2007-08) and Secretary (2006-07) of the Council. Attorney Gray has also served as a member of the Board of Governors for the McHenry County Bar Association since 2000. In 2008 Attorney Gray was elected President of the McHenry County Bar Association, and previously served as the Association's 1st Vice-President (2007-08), 2nd Vice-President (2006-2007), Secretary (2005-06), Treasurer (2004-05), and Membership Chair (2000-2004). OtherAttorney Gray is a 2000 graduate of the American Bar Association Family Law Section Trial Advocacy Institute. Attorney Gray is also a certified mediator, having received her Certificate of Professional Achievement in Family and Divorce Mediation Training from DePaul University's Center for Dispute Resolution in 2005. Attorney Gray is also certified to represent children in contested matters. Attorney Gray received her interdisciplinary collaborative practice training from the Collaborative Family Law Counsel of Wisconsin, and is a Fellow of the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
