Judith's practice is limited to family law. She is a fellow of the AAML. Her membership includes: Birmingham (Chair, Women's Section, 1996) and American (Member, Family Law Section; Alabama Reporter, Law in the 50 States Program, 1983-1997; Executive Member, Custody Committee, 1983-1985, 1994-1995; Law School Site Evaluations Team, 2002) Bar Associations; Alabama State Bar (Family Law Section, 1984-1992 (Charter Member); Alabama Law Institute (Member, Children's Rights Task Force, 1986-1990).  Judith's peers have awarded her an “AV rating,” listed in the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers and she has appeared in Best Lawyers in America. She speaks at Continuing Legal Education Programs throughout the United States and has contributed to a variety of publications.  In 2004 to 2005, Judith was Cumberland School of Law Samford University Lawyer in Residence.

Gil grew up in Portland and is recognized nationally and locally for his extensive experience in domestic relations matters. He represents individuals in complex divorce, child custody and other family law matters. He is a Fellow of the AAML, the International Academy and is a member and past chair of the Family and Juvenile Law Section of the Oregon State Bar.  He served as past President of the the Oregon Chapter of the AAML.  Gil has lectured at Oregon and National continuing legal education conferences on Legal Ethics and Family Law matters. He is also a national author on complex divorce issues.  Gil has been selected by Best Lawyers of American and by Oregon's Super Lawyers in Family Law.  He is a admitted to practice in the United States District Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.

H. Joseph Gitlin (HJG) is my father and former senior partner (when the firm was named Gitlin & Gitlin).  Having worked at Gitlin & Gitlin for fourteen years, I was fortunate to have worked with my father.  Many of the systems and approaches that I use I credit to my father.  My father has been posted in Best Lawyers in America since 1983 and has been included in the National Law Journal listing of family lawyers.  HJG remains on the cutting edge of family law, chairing the American Bar Association's Surrogacy Committee during the time of the famous "Baby M" case, and currently chairing the ABA Laws of Reproduction & Genetic Technology Committee. He has appeared on national and local television and radio shows, and is frequently quoted in the media. HJG's leading publication is Gitlin on Divorce:  A Guide to Illinois Matrimonial Law, Third Edition, ©2003, ISBN 0327158352.  His columns on family law have regularly appeared in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin since 1973.  HJG is also the publisher of Gitlin on Divorce Reports semi-monthly service (the electronic version of which is available through me online).  HJG and I work collaboratively on this service.

Laura is my sister and a fine family lawyer. She is a board certified family law specialist -- certified by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization. Laura had two years of experience in family law.  In 2004 Southern California "SuperLawyers" named Laura as being among the top 5% of lawyers in Los Angeles County and Orange County. She handled only family law cases in Los Angeles County, California. She served as the chair of the Children's Issues Committee of the California Bar's family law section. Laura served as a mediator in family law matters for the Los Angeles Superior Court alternative dispute resolution program and she acted as a temporary judge in family law matters in Los Angeles County.  Laura wrote many articles and chapters on family topics.  She lectured and served as a panelist at American Bar Association Annual Meetings and other bar functions.  I am indebted to her. 

Sondra is the managing partner of Sondra I. Harris & Associates, P.C.  Sandra has been a member of the American Bar Association Family Law Counsel.  She has been the chair of the ABA's Cohabitation committee from 1992.  She is a liaison of the Presidential Commission on diversity.  Sondra has written extensively on family law issues for publications such as The Family Advocate, Divorce Litigation, American Journal of Family Law, and Fair$hare.  While her practice is located in Woodmere, in Nassau County, on the South Shore of Long Island, she has represented clients in all of the New York City and Long Island Metro Area venues, as well as Westchester, Putnam and Rockland Counties, and she has also provided representation in local venues and jurisdictions to numerous out-of-state clients.

Gregg was partners with Leonard Loeb and is the principal of one of Wisconsin's premier family law firms. Gregg's former senior partner, Leonard Loeb died March 2003. Leonard was one of the finest family lawyers in the nation. Gregg's practice in Milwaukee is somewhat unique in that often he (as did Leonard) uses non-conventional billing practices. More specifically, Gregg's billing is based in part on the value of the services rendered — which is assessed at the end of the case. His belief is that this helps the lawyer and the client focus on providing efficient legal services. Gregg has had various leadership positions including in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers where Wisconsin Chapter where he was past President, the Wisconsin Bar Association, and the American Bar Association where he is the chair of the Family Law Section for 2007-2008.   Gregg was recipient of “Leaders in the Law” award from Wisconsin Law Journal, 2007.  He has also been at the forefront of bringing collaborative law to the state of Wisconsin having been the founder and first Chair of the Collaborative Family Law Counsel of Wisconsin. 

Mitchell is an "AV" rated lawyer and board certified in matrimonial and family law in Florida. He concentrates his practice in family and marital law. He was admitted to the Florida bar in 1985.  Mr. Karpf is a member of the Family Law Section of the Dade County and a Master in the First Family Law American Inn of Court. He recently completed his term as president of the Family Inns of Court.  He has also served on the Board of Directors of the North Dade Bar Association. Mr. Karpf has vast experience in all aspects of marital and family law including custody disputes, dissolution of marriage proceedings and support issues.

In addition, Mitchell has considerable experience in searching for assets and property valuation disputes. He also holds a Florida Real Estate License. In the past he has represented health maintenance organizations and affiliated hospitals in a variety of legal disputes including breaches of contract, employment discrimination and claims involving the religious rights of patients.

Steve practices in Jefferson, Oldham and Hardin County in Louisville. He is a member of the Louisville Bar Association; American Bar Association; Kentucky Bar Association and Ohio State Bar Association.   He was the chair of the Louisville Bar Association, Family Law Section. Steve's CLE participation includes Guardian Ad Litem Guidelines for Attorneys Representing Children - Kentucky Association, Kentucky Law Update, 1996. He is author of ``Representing Children in Divorce Litigation,'' The Advocate, July/August 1997.   Steve was the Louisville Bar Association's Family Law Practitioner of the Year, 2000.

Twila is a partner with a 47 lawyer firm where she continues to concentrate her practice to family law.  Twila is past chair of the New Mexico Family Law Section and represented New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah on the American Bar Association Family Law Council. Ms. Larkin is an author and frequently sought as a speaker on subjects.  She is former Chair of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of New Mexico.

Ron is a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers as well as the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.  Mr. Nelson was the President of the Kansas Bar Association Family Law Section for the 2000 through 2004 and served on the Governing Council of the American Bar Association Family Law Section from 2000-2006.  Mr. Nelson is engaged in a civil trial and appellate practice, emphasizing complex matrimonial and domestic relations cases and representation of parents seeking return of their children in international child abduction matters. Ron is was a contributing author to the Kansas Employment Law Handbook published by the Kansas Bar Association (1995).  He is a contributing author to the Practitioner's Guide on Kansas Family Law published by the Kansas Bar Association (1997 & supplements) and he has written numerous other articles in the area of domestic relations law for local, regional and national legal publications. Ron has lectured on numerous topics in family law at national, state, and local conferences with special emphasis on jurisdiction and child custody issues. Ron has participated in the drafting of important domestic relations legislation dealing with child custody that was signed into law in 2000, and has also been involved with the drafting and passage of other legislation in subsequent sessions of the Kansas Legislature.

Lori was reelected to a three-year term (2008-2011) as a bar commissioner for the Utah State Bar for the Third Division. She is the co-chair of the Utah State Bar Governmental Relations committee and the legislative liaison for the Family Law Section. She is the past chair of the Family Law Section Executive Committee and has served as a member of the Judicial Council Standing Committee on Children and Family Law since its inception in April 2000. Lori was elected to serve a three-year term (2008-2011) on the ABA Family Law Section Council representing Region 5, which covers the states of Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. She was named Family Law Lawyer of the year 2001-2002.  She has been named one of Utah’s Legal Elite by Utah Business Magazine each year from 2006 to 2008. She has also been named since 2007 to the current editions of Mountain States Super Lawyers.

Jim received the American Bar Association Family Law Chair's Recognition Award.  He is the president of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Tulare County.  Also, he is the Secretary of the American Bar Association Family Law Section.  Jim is a moderator of Law Education Institute's Family Law five day Annual Family Law Conference in Snowmass.  He has been named as  SuperLawyer in California since 2008. 

Bob is a Family Law Specialist certified by the California Board of Legal Specialization continuously since 1980. He is a fellow of the AAML and was certified by the AAML as a Family Law Arbitrator and Mediator. Bob is a reporter of California Family Law for the American Bar Association Family Law Section "Law In The Fifty States" publication.  Bob continues to advice the AAML Committee on Special Concerns of Children. 

Mark is a fellow Kenyon College alumnus.  He has been a certified family law specialist since 1989 and his practice has been limited to family law since 1981. He has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal , Town & Country Magazine , Lawyers Weekly USA and The Raleigh News & Observer , and has had articles published in The American Journal of Family Law , Family Law Quarterly , Family Advocate , and The Practical Lawyer . He is the editor of "Family Law Practice and Procedure Manual" (NC Academy of Trial Lawyers ) and the author of The Military Divorce Handbook (Am. Bar Assn. 2006). Mark is a frequent speaker at military and family law programs for state bars and bar associations.  He speaks regularly at the US Army JAG School , Charlottesville , VA , and the Naval Justice School , Newport , Rhode Island , on separation agreements, custody and family law.  He is a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), the Wake County Bar Association, the Judge Advocates Association, and the Reserve Officers Association. He is a retired JAG colonel ( U.S. Army Reserve) and is co-chair of the Military Committee, ABA Family Law Section.  Mark has excellent resources on his web site including a discussion of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act.
